Fostering is one of the greatest services you can offer to Forget-Me-Not Inc.. Dogs can require foster care for a number of reasons including:
We have put together some of our most common FAQs to help you determine if fostering is the right path for you and your family. It is important to understand all that fostering entails before you take the leap.
No, the Rescue will provide everything your foster pet will need. Foster parents are welcome to contribute by buying food, treats or toys and if you want. We encourage you to keep your receipts for the end of the year so we can give you a tax donation receipt.
A folder with all the information you need will be given to you when you start the foster program. This includes emergency and contact information.
All of our pets are vaccinated. You will not be given a pet that has any condition that could be transmitted to other pets. All veterinarian visits will be set up by the Rescue and paid for by the Rescue.
Foster dogs are assessed by compatibility with your lifestyle. Not every dog will work in every situation.
Every effort will be made to get in touch with you as soon as possible, and we have several avenues of communication to make it easier to reach someone.
We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you can no longer foster. This allows us time to seek a new home for your foster pet.
We have volunteer counselors that will take care of all communications with a potential adopter.
The more exposure your foster pet gets through social media or events will increase their chances of adoption, so we ask that you attend as many of our adoption or fundraising events as you can.

Our Save Rate is 100%. Many of the dogs in our rescue were already slated for euthanasia when we rescued them, most of them had been labeled, medical, fearful and aggressive, but we know too often the real reason they are on death row is because of a lack of space. We are very proud to continue with our promise of never euthanizing any pet until every opportunity of treatment or rehabilitation has been exhausted. FMN proudly participates in the Shelter Animals Count and the link to our stats can be found below, to evaluate our live save rate we use the Asilomar Accords guidelines and the calculations can be seen at the bottom of each years reporting.
